What is the best time of day to water your flowers?

I live in S/E Washinghton. It is a really dry climate...I am not sure if that matters or not. I have a lot of sun perrinals. Is it best to water them in the morning or the evening?

What is the best time of day to water your flowers?
Early morning is prefered, but evening is good too. As to mold and powdery mildew, some perennials are prone to mildew like garden phlox, bee balm, zinnias, crepe mertyl to name a few. For these plants watering in the evening can bring on powdery mildew. Since you're in a dry climate thes may not pose much of a problem.
Reply:Late evening because they can enjoy it all night before the sun starts drying them back out.

The story about mold / mildew if you water in the evening is an old wives tale.
Reply:In the early evening. The waning sun will not effect water absorbtion and if you do it after dark it can mildew/mold. The other post which said it's a wivestale is full of bull. Last spring my mom watered everything in the late evening and within two weeks she had mold/mildew rot on everything. The mold/mildew spores have to be present to grow, they can be there for the entire summer, without the right conditions they are harmless. Watering at dark or right after will give the mold/mildew the perfect conditions to take over your flowers. I water mine around 6 pm and have never had any problems.I hope this helps you out and please be careful when taking any advice!!!!!!
Reply:sunset. plants and flowers grow at night.
Reply:Sunset.
Reply:BOTH JUST DON'T FLOOD THEM OUT !
Reply:NIGHT AFTER THE HEAT OF THE DAY PAST, OTHERWISE YOU COULD HARM THE ROOTS.
Reply:Early morning or evening when the sun isn't on them.
