How do u dry out flowers?

this def. isnt the profesional way, but i like to hang them upside down from my cabinets (which are on the wall). i usually take a rubberband and wrap it around the flower stems, and then wrap it around my cabinet handle (so that the flower is upside down). this way, when the flower dries out it will still look like a flower and wont wilt b/c gravity is pulling it down.

also, make sure that u leave it out for a good week at least. even if it looks like its dried out it might not be, and then it will wilt. when it's finished stick it in a vase and u're done!

(the main points are:

1. make sure it is upside down while it is drying

2. make sure that you leave it out for a long period of time just in case).

You could dry flowers by pressing them in a book but i don't recemend that. You could gather them up and hang them on a string from your ceiling. I did this with spearmint and it worked quite nicely. I also read in a book about herbs(the name escapes me at the moment) that you could put them on a cookie sheet and put them in the oven on a low temperture for a while and that would dry them out although I"ve never tried it it may work.
Reply:Your local nursery or floral shop should stock a desiccant such as silica gel for just such a purpose. It can sometimes be found at craft stores.
Reply:Depends on if you want them pressed and dried, or lifelike and dried. If pressed, put between newsprint or book pages under a heavy weight and change the paper once a week. If lifelike, find a dry dark place and hang them upside-down. You can also preserve them in glycerine or with silica gel.

See link for instructions on all methods.
Reply:Place between several layers of paper toweling under heavy weights - and wait a few days
