I clip off the whole stalk as low as I can go.
After the bird of paradise blooms, and the flower dries up and dies...what do you do with it? clip it off?
If it is a bulb plant then treat it like a tulip. Bend the stem over and put a rubber band around it to keep it bent down and out of sight. If it's not a bulb, then just clip it off. Best wishes
