paint an egg white wash on the outside to help harden the surface?
I know ppl have made relatively big sculptures. and wondering if one merely allows marzipan figure to air dry and/or use egg white on the outside?
Pls advise,
TY
If you've made marzipan shapes[flowers, animals, ect]do you use egg whites to ... ??
An egg white wash on marzipan won't really harden the surface much, certainly not enough to strengthen it. In fact, if you use an egg white glaze on your marzipan, you will have to handle it even more carefully when the glaze dries, as it can crack easily. The main reason for the egg white glaze is for appearance. If it's strength you're seeking in your marzipan, allowing your figures to dry thoroughly is your best bet.
Reply:as a sealant and to give it a nice sheen
