I heard that there are something/ chemicals that make flowers dry when the flowers are put in it.?

Does anyone have any ideas? thanks...i think it looks like sand or so..........

I heard that there are something/ chemicals that make flowers dry when the flowers are put in it.?
Its called silica gel and you can buy it at most craft stores. The flowers are placed ontop of the gel, which looks alot like sand and then you pour more sillica gel ontop of the blooms and leave them like that for a few days. When you remove the silica gel , the flowers are dried out. Some flowers are easily dreid by hanging them upside down in a very dry and warm area, like an attic. I am a floral designer and we use both of these methods. Hope this helps.
