I wouldn't recommend it... Diatomaceous Earth has sharp edges, which is why it's commonly used as a barrier around plants like hostas, to keep the hungry slugs from crossing over it.
Silica crystals will absorb moisture quickly and won't cut up your fragile flower petals. Also it can be re-dried and used over %26amp; over again.
